Warwickshire County Council (WCC) need to find an extra £3M to deliver the Bermuda Connection over and above the £3.7M they originally budgeted so nearly a doubling of cost before the scheme has even entered the Detailed Design stage. The Bermuda Bridge Action Group have undertaken a detailed Cost Estimate of the scheme using the various plans prepared by Atkins on behalf of WCC and obtained under the Freedom of Information Act and the reality is that the scheme is likely to cost up to £9M
This would mean that WCC need to make around £6M of cuts to services in these Austere times to fund a project that is a folly project of a few local Councillors and is unwanted by the communities of West Nuneaton.
The full A444 corridor improvement that would solve all congestion issues on the A444, Heath End Road and Greenmoor Road can now be delivered for less and will not changes existing travel patterns or destroy / segregate local communities.
IT IS AN ABSOLUTE NO BRAINER!
